Make a statement with orange, white and green

This weekend sport a different look — you could incorporate the colours — green, saffron, white and blue in your makeup, lipsticks or your outfit. While orange or saffron can be on your lips, the other three can look great as eye makeup. Another good thing about these colours is that they are classic colours for Indian as well as western wear. Here are a few ways to sport the colours...

Go for the green
To get this look, you need to begin by applying a primer and then a foundation to even out your skin tone. Take a green eye pencil and outline your eyes — apply just below the waterline. On your lids, use a liquid eyeliner over the pencil one, to give a darker look. Now use an eyeshadow of the same shade and apply on your eyelids as shown in the picture. Apply a grey shade over the green on the eyelids very close to your eye liner. Blend well — the effect should be a smooth transition from your eyelids to your brow bone. Make sure no defined lines are visibly standing out, by blending carefully. To complete the look, use two to three coats of volumising, curling mascara. Make sure that each coat dries before you apply the other or you might end up with spidery and clumpy eyelashes.

TIP:
Wearing this look can be tricky unless you choose a green that compliments your skintone and then blend it all well. Also, keep everything else on the face muted, beige or nude if you want to avoid the OTT look. Opt for light lips and a simple hairstyle like a pony.

Let your lips do the talking
Red lips of course is a classic go-to shade if you want to make a statement, and nude colours are perfect for day wear and a girl's best friend, but orange lipsticks are, interestingly, both — you can make a statement and you can also wear it during a day event. Lipsticks in shades of orange made a mark on the ramps last year and the trend is here to stay. So, try it on. Begin by prepping up your lips with a lip scrub and then dabbing on some base. Now, outline your lips with a pencil that matches your lipstick. And finally, fill in the colour.

TIP:
Orange lips can be worn during the day or for night parties — you just need to choose the shade that compliments your skin. Ideally, avoid colours that are fluorescent orange if you are at work or at a very traditional event.

Choose the elegant sari look
Saris spell timeless elegance. This easy-to-do look can be worn anywhere, especially to all the Republic day functions in your locality. This includes the colours (except green) — blue, white and orange. Wear a navy, or dark blue blouse with a white sari and orange or saffron border. Go creative.

TIP:
Since the blouse is dark, you can opt for a contrast colour. You could wear an orange blouse with a white sari that has a green border.
