Red is no longer most preferred for weddings

Traditional Indian weddings are synonymous with red, especially since it is considered auspicious. But, that seems to have been undergoing a change lately, as a lot of brides are opting for something more contemporary. We take a look at some celebrity brides who gave red a skip recently:

Soha Ali Khan
The first celebrity wedding of the year saw actress Soha Ali Khan tie the knot with long-time boyfriend, Kunal Kemmu. While the event was a private affair, the wedding wear was definitely not. The demure bride looked every bit the royal that she is in a orange and cream lehenga with gold work that she wore for the wedding ceremony, and for the reception, she chose to wear a fuschia pink and gold lehenga. In fact, even for her mehendi, Soha chose to wear a pink kurta.

Kim Jagtiani
VJ host Kim Jagtiani tied the knot with her restauranteur boyrfriend, Rohan Gupta, end of last year. She had a destination wedding at a Rajasthan fort and had her friends and relatives over from Canada and India. Kim's favourite colour seemed to be black as she sported different outfits of that colour for various functions of her wedding. But, for her actual wedding ceremony, Kim chose to go with a gold and peach lehenga, which had a tinge of green.

Kirat Bhattal
The pretty actress, who has done a Kannada flick Geleya opposite Prajwal Devaraj, got married to her boyfriend, actor and host Gaurav Kapoor end of last year. While she looked like a dream at her open-air wedding, Kirat opted for a pink lehenga that complimented Gaurav's white and gold sherwani. The lehenga had detailed zardozi work done in gold.

Dia Mirza
Dia kept her wedding ensemble as classy as she is and opted for a gold and green traditional joda. The ensemble was inspired from the Mughal era and had zardozi work done. And for her reception, she opted for a peach and gold contemporary lehenga. At her wedding too, red did not feature in any of her outfits for her sangeet and mehendi ceremony she opted for something in purple and orange.

Prianka Vohra
The bride of actor and VJ Rannvijay Singh chose to go with something that was not red for her wedding. She wore a gold and cream lehenga that had intricate detailed work done, which she teamed with some heavy jewellery. The slim bride looked pretty as a picture with her husband complimenting her in a charcoal suit.

Raageshwari Loomba
Actress and singer Raageshwari gave red a skip at her wedding, as she decided to tie the knot in a peach organza lehenga. It was a sheer net ensemble that had sequinned white borders. The lehenga was flared and the bottom of the skirt was covered with white thread sequinned embroidery.

Sameera Reddy
Actress Sameera tied the knot with Akshai Varde last year in a quiet ceremony. She sported an orange and gold brocade sari, which had only a tinge of red in the pallu. Sameera teamed the sari with a gold waist belt and looked stunning.
