DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Monday claimed that journalists enjoy absolute freedom during the regime of Awami League.

She came up with the observation while addressing an inauguration ceremony of the newly built 8-storey building of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) in the city this morning.

The Prime Minister also said, “We had ensured security of the journalists during 1996 regime as Awami League wants full freedom of their expression.”

She also said, “We have formed a welfare fund for the journalists.”
