NEW YORK: QuickBooks is an accounting software package, popular among small business owners who had no formal accounting training.
The use of QuickBooks is very popular in United States of America and training in the usage of the software helps to get jobs quickly.
Center for Human Development- Bangladesh (CHD-BD) began a seven-week free QuickBooks and career exploration training, from November 2, for Bangladeshi expatriates in USA.
The training, underway at room no 15 of Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, is sponsored by council member Daniel Dromm while Youth Congress of Bangladeshi Americans (YCBA) in the co-sponsor of the training programme.
The course will continue for seven weeks, every Saturday from 2:30-5:00 pm.
For the second time in last three months, CHD-BD has been organizing the ‘QuickBooks and Career Exploration Training’ programme. Monzur Chowdhury is the founder president of CHD-BD and course coordinator of the organization.
Monzur Chowdhury, director of communications Badal Hasib, Executive Director Gias Uddin Biswas, Deputy Director Gazi Salauddin Ahmed and Advisor M Russell Kabir spoke in the short inauguration ceremony.
In his welcome speech, Monzur Choudhury explained the noble intention of conducting free courses on QuickBooks by CHD-BD and provided invaluable information on career exploration.
He said that CHD-BD wants to see every Bangladeshi in USA, especially those who have completed higher degrees back in the country, reaches higher positions.
Knowledge in QuickBooks helps to get a better job, he added.
Praising the local council member Daniel Dromm who has been working tirelessly for improving the lives of new Bangladeshi immigrants by providing all sorts of trainings, Monzur Choudhury said, he has proved himself as a friend in need for Bangladeshi expatriates in USA.
There were more than 45 enthusiastic participants who want to learn QuickBooks for a better opportunity in their existing job or planning to switch careers.
Some of the candidates having accounting background were desperate to make a better deal out of this training. The participants were of different ages from 20-60 and all have diverse educational background and career.
However, the seven-week long course will cover a wide-range of topics from entering the job market to starting a home-based business, re-entering the job market, or just information about a variety of careers for people wondering what they might want to do.
Earlier, YCBA also had organized a six-week long free training on QuickBooks which started from July 29. Monzur Choudhury was the course coordinator of the programme.
Monzur Choudhury has been working as a comptroller at the head office of Dominican Province of St Joseph in NY.
