Two ASIs closed over Ex-ACC official’s death in Ctg

Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) closed two assistant sub-inspectors of Chandgaon Police Station in connection with the death of former ACC official Sayed Mohammad Shahidullah, who died in police custody on Tuesday night.

MA Masud, additional commissioner (admin and finance), signed an order letter in this regard.

Two police officials are - Md Yousuf Ali and Md ATM Sohel Rana. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-PR) of CMP Spina Rani confirming the matter said two officers were attached to CMP Dampara police line.

ASIs Md Yousuf and Md ATM Rana arrested Shahidullah and brought him to Chandgaon Police Station on Tuesday night.

Nafis Shahid, son of Shahidullah, claimed that it was a “murder” as his father was picked up by police without showing any arrest warrant.

He also said, “Police officials in civil picked up my father, who is a cardiac patient, from our house at around 11:00pm last night. Immediately, my uncles rushed to the police station with my father’s medicine and inhaler. Later, when they reached there, they found the entrance of the police station was locked. Later, my father was taken to hospital around 12:00am.”

Earlier, Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khairul Islam said Shahidullah was taken to Parkview Hospital within 15 minutes of his arrest, when he felt sick. No misconduct was done with the victim when he was inside the police station.

The deceased Mohammad Shahidullah, 63, was deputy director of Chattogram Integrated Office-2 of the ACC. He retired in 2007.
