DHAKA: A passer-by was run over by a city bus in front of Ruposhi Bangla hotel in the capital on Thursday morning.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Sources said that a Gulistan-bound passenger bus rammed the victim at 07:20am while he was crossing road in the area, leaving him dead on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Ramna thana Sub-Inspector Nazmul Hasan told banglanews, “The bus driver fled the scene.”

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy, he added.
