BNP man shot, cops injured

SATKHIRA: A BNP local leader received bullet injury and two other law enforcers were injured in a clash between BNP activists and Joint Forces at Kashimari village under Shyamnagar upazila of the district on early Tuesday.

The injured BNP leader was identified as Jalal Faruq, Organizing Secretary of Kashimari Union, son of Ashraful Haque Sardar and resident of the area.

Police sources said that Joint Force members led a drive to nab Faruq and other accused in the area around 5:00am. However sensing the presence of the law enforcers they attacked on them throwing bricks and chips and locked into a clash.

At one stage, the law enforcers opened fire to take the situation under control, leaving Faruq shot and two law enforcers injured.

He was nabbed from the place and rushed to Shyamnagar upazila health complex.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Officer-in-Charge of Shyamnagar Police Station Sagir Mia said that the detainee was charged for five cases including extorting, bomb blast and creating violence.
