DHAKA: The High Court Thursday declared illegal a government decision which said Hajj pilgrims can fly to Saudi Arabia by two airlines for performing the holy Hajj.
A bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice M Habibul Gani passed the verdict after hearing a rule in this regard.
After the HC verdict, now Hajj pilgrims can go Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj by any airlines as they like.
On 24 October last year, government took a decision that Hajj pilgrims have to go to Saudi Arabia by Bangladesh Biman and Saudi Airlines.
Later, challenging the decision, Hajj Association of Bangladesh (HAB) filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging the government decision.
