DHAKA: The High Court ordered to settle the matter of Afil Uddin and Advocate Monirul Islam, winners in 10th JS elections from Jessore-1 and Jessore-2 constituency respectively, within two weeks.

AN HC bench comprising Justices Mirza Hossain Haider and Muhammad Khurshidul Alam passed the order on Thursday after a hearing on Wednesday.

Advocate Quamrul Islam Siddiqui moved for the appeal in the court while deputy attorney general M Alamin Sarker stood for the state.

The Election Commission (EC) did not declare Afil Uddin and Advocate Monirul Islam as winner on charge of violation of polls conduct.

On January 7, EC Deputy Secretary (Law) Basudev Roy also issued a show cause notices to those two candidates separately in this connection.
