JOYPURHAT: A district level Jamaat leader was killed in a road accident in Itkhola Ghasila Bridge area under Khetlal Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shamsul Islam, 45, district Jamaat Assistant Secretary.

Sources said that riding motorbike the Jamaat leader was returning home after addressing an Iftar Mahfil around 9:00pm. Then the bike knocked a under-construction culvert in the area, leaving him injured.

Later, locals rushed him Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Sirajganj Medical College from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital Bogra but he died on the way to hospital around 4:45am.
