DHAKA: Incumbent President Md Abdul Hamid has collected nomination paper to contest the presidential election slated for February 18.

Chief Whip in the 10th Parliament ASM Feroz on behalf of the President collected the nomination paper from Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Friday (February 02).

He went to the Election Commission Secretariat at about 11:00 to collect the nomination paper. Parliament Whips Shahiduzzaman, Iqbalur Rahim and Md Shahabuddin and some other leaders of ruling Awami League were also present at the time.

Earlier on Wednesday (January 31), the Awami League Parliamentary Board in its meeting picked Md Abdul Hamid as the party’s President candidate.

The Election Commission fixed February 05 for last date of nomination paper collection and submission and February 07 for scrutinizing, while February 10 for withdrawal of candidature.
