SYLHET: Five people were shot in a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) centering a cricket match in Sylhet on Friday evening (Feb 2).
The clash occurred around 7:00pm between Rocky-Pinky group and Alai group in Khadimpara’s Bisic industrial area.
Locals said the groups exchanged heated conversation over the result of a cricket match that led to clash later. A total of five people from both sides were shot during shooting and cocktail blasts. Several shops and markets were also vandalized in the clash.
Three of the injured were admitted to Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Shahporan police station officer-in-charge (OC) Akhter Hossain told Banglanews that, on information, police rushed to the spot and contained the situation.
