DHAKA: Law Minister Anisul Haque said that there is no binding to maintain seniority while appointing a Chief Justice.

The minister was talking to the reporters while inaugurating a workshop at a city hotel Sunday (February 4).

“There is no mandatory condition to maintain seniority here”, Anisul added.

The minister made the remarks in reaction to the appointment of Syed Mahmud Hossain as the new CJ.
