DHAKA: BNP supporters in United Kingdom have staged demonstration and vandalized the Bangladesh embassy in London centering the verdict in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against Khaleda Zia.

Police arrested Swecchasebak Dal UK unit president Nasir Ahmed over the incident.

BNP leaders and activists forcibly entered the embassy around 9:00pm Wednesday (February 7) in name of submitting a memorandum. Later they attacked the mission officials and vandalized furniture and pictures of PM Sheikh Hasina and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

BNP president MA Malek said, “We went to stage peaceful demonstration and submit memorandum but the mission officials refused to accept it. In response, some of the protestors forcibly entered the embassy.”

On the other hand, on Thursday afternoon (Feb 8), a special court in Dhaka sentenced five years imprisonment to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 10 years imprisonment to five others accused in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
