DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s personal physicians didn’t get permission to enter into the prison for examining her health as court sentenced her five years jail in graft case.
Seven doctors reached old Central Jail in city’s Nazimuddin Road around 12:30 pm on Wednesday (February 14).
When the doctors reached prison gate, police stopped them. Then, they went to the prison authority and appealed to the jail super. However, prison authorities nullified their application.
A senior prison official told Banglanews that, “We received an application from Khaleda Zia's personal physicians. According to jail code, an application will be acceptable in seven days to meet her. As Khaleda's family members have visited her this week, so doctors will not be allowed this week.”
Prison authorities said that Khaleda Zia has access to health check-ups and all medical facilities inside prison. No special check-ups are needed.
Khaleda Zia's personal physician team member Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Kuddus said, “We submitted an application, but authorities refused to give us permission.”
