BNP gets no permission for rally, black flag procession Feb 24

DHAKA: BNP did not get any permission from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold a rally in Dhaka on Thursday (Feb 22) demanding the unconditional release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.

In protest, BNP has called for a black flag procession program in city on Saturday (Feb 24).
BNP senior joint general secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement at a press conference in party’s Naya Paltan central office on Wednesday afternoon (Feb 21).

Rizvi said, “We have sought permission to police for holding the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan or in front of our Naya Paltan party office on Thursday but they did not give any approval. This government has done everything for not letting BNP to hold rally. It is completely against democracy and people’s rights.”

He also said DMP did not respond to our request till Wednesday afternoon. In protest, we will hold a black flag procession on Saturday.
