Jamaat’s ‘killing mission’ leader held in Ctg Sagir Ahmed in police custody

CHITTAGONG: Police, in a drive, detained a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami’s ‘killing mission’ section from Satkania upazila of Chittagong Monday night (February 26).

The detainee was identified as Sagir Ahmed, 49.

A local LG along with two cartridges were recovered from him.  

Satkania Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam told Banglanews that a drive was carried at the night on information that Sagir was staying at Deodighi Bazar area. 

He was nabbed at around 10:45pm.

Earlier, arrest warrant was issued against Sagir in several cases including for killing Jubo League leader Jahirul Hasan.

He is a member of an armed killers’ syndicate. He has notoriety in the area as a member of Jamaat’s killing mission and for his involvement in extortion, theft, robbery and other criminal activities, said the OC.

Sagir is also involved with an organized syndicate for illegal arms trading, the OC said further.
