DHAKA: BNP has started a leaflet distribution program across the country demanding for the immediate release of its chairperson Khaleda Zia who is now in jail after being convicted in a graft case.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi started the program in front of party’s Naya Paltan central office around 10:00am Thursday (March 1).
Rizvi said, “We will go door to door for our leader’s release because she did not commit any corruption. Our peaceful protest will continue and eventually bring down this government.”
Senior BNP leaders were also present at that time.
Earlier on February 8, a special court in Dhaka sentenced five years imprisonment to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. She was sent to Dhaka central jail following the verdict.
