RANGPUR: Jatiya Party (JP) chairman HM Ershad said discussion is going on with the government about resignation of the JP members including himself from the cabinet.

Ershad made the remarks to reporters at Rangpur circuit house in Rangpur city on Friday noon (March 2).

He said, “As the opposition party, JP members should not have served as ministers under current government. It is destroying the image of JP. We are considering forming government in near future. I am announcing a public rally in Dhaka on March 24 where we will showcase our strength and unity.”

In response to a query whether BNP will join the next election, Ershad said, “BNP is now a leaderless party. I personally think they should participate in the polls but it is doubtful. However, the government is trying to bring them in election.”
