BARGUNA: A leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), who was critically injured in a rival attack by leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Patharghata upazila of Barguna 14 days ago, died in hospital on Friday (March 9).

The victim, Mohammad Asadullah, 23, son of one Alauddin Hawladar and general secretary of JCD ward no-5 in Patharghata upazila, died around 11:00am at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) intensive care unit. 

Deceased’s brother Md Hasan confirmed the matter to Banglanews. 

Earlier on February 23, BCL leader Md Sohag Mia and his assistant Rubel hacked Asadullah over previous enmity. Victim’s father filed a case on the same day accusing five people. However, four of the accused remain at large.

Patharghata police station officer-in-charge (OC) Molla Md Khabir Ahmed said police conducted raid in prime suspect Sohag’s house and seized firearms and chopper following the incident. An effort to capture him is underway.
