NARAYNGANJ: In wake of the allegations from BNP about police action on their Thursday’ program, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the police foiled the rally to reduce public suffering.
“Police obviously will take them aside if they cause public suffering by holding rally after closing the road before the press club”, he said.
“See, we didn’t hold any rally on the street, we did it in the field”, he added.
Quader, also the Awami General Secretary, was talking to the reporters after inspecting a highway development work in Narayanganj city Friday (March 9).
Regarding the allegation of BNP that the law enforcers have deatined their leaders and activist from the rally, the minister said police arrested only the persons who are accused in cases.
However, BNP organized a sit-in program before the press club Thursday (March 8) demanding unconditional release of their party chief Khaleda Zia which was immediately foiled by police.
