HC order on Khaleda’s bail petition now on Monday BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia

DHAKA: High Court deferred till 2 pm on Monday (March 12) for passing order on bail petition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

In this case, Special Judge's Court-5 of Dhaka sentenced her to five years’ rigorous imprisonment by the lower court on February 8 in connection with the inappropriate handling of the Zia Orphanage Trust fund.

The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order on Sunday (March 11), as the case record from the lower court is yet to reach HC.

Senior lawyer AJ Mohammed Ali moved for Khaleda Zia while Kurshid Alom Khan moved for the state.

Earlier on February 22, the bench gave 15-day time for sending the case record which expires today.  
On March 8, the High Court fixed this date for passing orders regarding the bail petition of Khaleda in the graft case.
