RANGAMATI: A collector of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was stabbed to death allegedly by the assistant collector of UPDF in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati.

Police recovered the body from Balu Khali area under Bongoltoli union of the upazila early Sunday (March 11).

The deceased was identified as Notun Moni Chakma, 38, while the alleged assailant was Amaratnan Chakma Darshan, 35. 

Local and eyewitness sources said Amaratnan Chakma Darshan broke into Notun Moni Chakma’s house on Saturday night (March 10). After stabbing Notun Moni to death out of internal party conflict, Amaratnan Chakma fled away from the spot.

Baghaichhari Police Station of Officer-in-Charge (OC) Amir Hossain told Banglanews that the body was sent to Khagrachhari General Hospital morgue.

After filing a case by the deceased family, legal action will be taken against the accused, OC said.
