DHAKA: Law minister Anisul Huq said BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s bail order in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case proves that the government does not interfere in the judiciary.
The minister expressed his reaction to reporters after the High Court granted 4 months interim bail to Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage trust graft case on Monday (March 12).
In response to a query about Khaleda’s release from jail, Anisul said she (Khaleda) wont be released until the certified copy of the bail order reaches to jail authority.
The High Court granted 4-month bail for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who was serving jail in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case since early February.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim passed the order, at noon.
A Dhaka special court sentenced Khaleda to five years’ imprisonment on February 8. She was sent to jail on the same day.
Since then, leaders and activists of BNP have been staging protest programs against the conviction of their party chief.
