Rizvi sets 4 conditions to join next polls

DHAKA: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has come up with four conditions for contesting in the next parliamentary elections.

The conditions are: 1. Khaleda Zia will lead BNP, 2. the election must be free, fair and participatory, 3. Sheikh Hasina will have to resign, and 4. the elections must be held under a non-partisan government.

The BNP leader came up with the conditions at a news conference at 11:30 am in city’s Naya Paltan party office on Sunday (March 18).

At the press conference, Rizvi gave reference to Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader’s speech where he said, “AL won the hearts of countrymen with development. Therefore, the next election is just a formality for the party.”

He also cited Finance Minister AMA Muhith’s speech- “The next parliamentary election will be held under an interim government which would be constituted by elected representatives.”

In response to such speeches, Rizvi said, “It seems from the AL leaders’ speeches that their master plan is finalized. They are busy conspiring to stage another voter-less election”.

Rizvi finally said such January 5 like voter-less election will not be allowed in the country again.
