DHAKA: BNP’s March 29 rally at Dhaka’s Suhrawardi Udyan demanding release of Khaleda Zia has been postponed.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed made the announcement at a press conference in party's Nayapaltan office on Wednesday afternoon (March 28).

The senior BNP leader said the rally has been postponed as they did not get approval from government for the fourth time. 

Earlier BNP denied permission to hold rally in Dhaka three times citing security reasons.

After the meeting with Home Minister on Tuesday, we thought this time we will get permission. But the government turned us down again. This is the behavior of an autocratic government, Rizvi claimed.
  
BNP has been seeking permission for a rally for the release of its party chief Khaleda Zia who was sent to jail after being sentenced to five years imprisonment in a graft case on February.
