DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary also Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that the government will take necessary steps for arranging treatment for convicted BNP chief Khaleda Zia, if requires.
Quader was talking to the reporters after attending a meeting of the Awami League presidium members, at their party chief Sheikh Hasina’s political office in Dhanmondi Friday (March 30).
Earlier at a press briefing in the morning, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded immediate release of their chairperson Khaleda Zia, so that she can go abroad for treatment.
“Khaleda Zia should be given the opportunities of improved treatment and health check-up by her own physicians,” said Fakhrul.
However, while replying a question, Quader said that the government will take necessary steps as per the rules, for Khaleda Zia’s treatment, if she were ill.
“Improved treatment is available in the country,” he added.
The minister further said that the government isn’t behaving inhumanly with the jailed BNP chief.
