DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday (April 5) deferred until April 22 the hearing of Zia Charitable Trust corruption case filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Judge Court-5 fixed the fresh date as BNP Chairperson is physically sick in jail.

On March 28, the special court fixed Thursday (April 5) for hearing arguments in the case.

On April 1, a four-member medical board examined the health condition of Khaleda Zia who has been kept at old central jail in Dhaka’s Nazimuddin road.

After the examination, it was found that BNP chief has been suffering from some old and newly developed health conditions, but none of them were serious.

Medical report on the health condition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was submitted to jail authorities on Tuesday (April 3).

Khaleda Zia landed in jail on February 8, as she was sentenced to five years' imprisonment in another graft case against her.

On August 8, 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed Zia Charitable Trust corruption case with Tejgaon Police Station, accusing four people, including Khaleda, of raising funds for the trust from unknown sources through abuse of power.
