DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) from Old Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road in Dhaka for medical treatment.

Khaleda, who was sentenced to five years imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8, was bought out from the jail around 11:15am and taken to BSMMU at 11:34am on Saturday (April 7).

Earlier in the day, tight security measures were taken in areas from the jail to the hospital.

The cabin No. 512 of the BSMMU cabin block has been prepared for her, said an official of BSMMU.
