FROM JATIYA SANGSAD: The 20th session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) begun on Sunday afternoon (April 8).

President Abdul Hamid on March 21 convened the session exercising the power bestowed upon him by Article 72 (1) of the Constitution.

The House went into session at 5:00pm with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair. 

Earlier at 4:00pm, the business advisory committee of parliament with speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair fixed the duration and businesses of the session.

According to officials of the Parliament Secretariat, the 20th session is likely to be a brief one ahead of the budget session.

The 19th session of the 10th Parliament ended on February 28.
