DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed said that the announcement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to abolish quota system is a defeat of the government.
Modud, as the chief guest, was addressing a discussion on ‘army deployment in upcoming parliamentary polls’, organized by Labor Party, at the VIP Lounge of Jatiya Press Club Wednesday (April 11).
“The prime minister knows it well that how much stirring the movement became. She took the decision (to revoke quota system) fearing that Awami League may lose power by this very movement,” he said.
The grievance the students amassed for long has resulted in the movement, he added.
However, Moudud set 4-point conditions before Awami League including releasing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail and dissolving the parliament 90 days before the election, to hold the election.
