PM disappoints nation by scrapping quota: Rizvi Ruhul Kabir Rizvi

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina disappointed the entire nation by giving announcement of scrapping the entire quota system in public service, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

“She (Sheikh Hasina) made the announcement out of wrath, and without evaluating the demand of the protesters properly,” he said.

Rizvi was addressing a press briefing at BNP central party office in Nayapaltan, Wednesday noon (April 12).

Terming the quota reformation announcement from the government head is conflicting to the constitution, Rizvi said: “The constitution has clear provision to provide quota privilege to ethnic groups and physically-challenged people. The government hasn’t accepted the students’ demand of quota reform.”

“The protesting students and job-seekers haven’t opposed the quota privilege for the children of Freedom Fighters including ethnic groups and physically-challenged people. They urged for quota system reformation”

“The government hatched plot through this announcement,” added Rizvi.

However, Rizvi demanded unconditional and immediate release of the arrested BNP leaders and activists of Bagerhat.

Some other BNP leaders also attended the press briefing.
