DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the upcoming national parliamentary polls will be held if their party chief Khaleda Zia is released from jail.
“We want to say it clearly that the election will be held only when the polls-friendly environment is created,” he said.
“The election will be held only when Khaleda Zia will come back after getting release and will lead us”
“The election will be held once the level-playing field is created,” he added.
Fakhrul was addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club, organized by Jatiya Jubo Sanghati on their 35th founding anniversary Saturday (April 21).
Fakhrul called on the government to create level-playing field and dissolve the parliament, in a bid to hold a fair election.
Claiming Khaleda Zia sick, he also urged for her release so that she can get proper treatment at wherever she wants.
