DHAKA: Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad said many of the BNP leaders will now join his party as it has potentials to go to power in the next election.
Ershad made the remark on Monday (April 23) at his Baridhara residence when former BNP MP ATM Alamgir joined Jatiya Party in the morning.
The former President, at the joining ceremony, said the country experiences no fair election now.
He also said: “But I hope no one can beat us in the next election as the world is now monitoring our elections. There is unrest in the country. So its people want change. They again want to see a peaceful government led by Jatiya Party.”
Alamgir was elected an MP under he banner of BNP in the fifth and sixth parliamentary elections from Comilla-10 (Laksam-Manoharganj) constituency.
Jatiya Party Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader, Presidium member Sunil Shuvo Roy and Vice Chairman HMN Shafiqur Rahman, among other central leaders, attended the ceremony.
