British home office letter full of flaws: BNP

DHAKA: In a latest response to the ongoing political rant, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the government has found nothing against BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman except a home office letter full of errors.

He also said the only achievement of PM Hasina’s recent London visit is 3 pages of Tariquie’s passport issued in 2008 that State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam collected.

The senior BNP leader made the remark at a press conference in city’s Naya Paltan party office on Tuesday morning (April 24).

Earlier on Monday (April 24), BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman sent legal notice to State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam for saying that Tarique given up citizenship by submitting his passport in Bangladesh embassy of London.

In response, Shahriar Alam held a press conference Monday evening highlighting a letter from the London home office.

Fakhrul said we are skeptical about the letter state minister presented to press because 13 mistakes were found in it.

At the press conference, Fakhrul also pointed out the errors in a copy of the letter claiming that it is not even issued by the London home office.
