DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said the upcoming polls to Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) won’t have any deployment of army.

He was briefing the reporters at the EC secretariat Thursday noon (April 26).

Earlier, BNP placed 26-point demand seeking army deployment and abolishing the use of EVM machines in the polls to GCC and Khulna City Corporation (KCC).

The polls to GCC and KCC are scheduled to hold on May 15.

“All the factories in Gazipur City Corporation will remain closed on the day of election. And no army will be deployed there,” Helaluddin told media Thursday.
