DHAKA: BNP is set to stage rallies across the country including the capital city Monday (May 7), demanding unconditional release of their convicted party chief Khaleda Zia and ‘proper treatment’ of her.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the announcement at a press briefing at BNP central party office in Nayapaltan around 11am Sunday (May 6).
“The health condition of BNP leader Khaleda Zia, who was jailed in false and fabricated case, is worsening daily. We are announcing rallies countrywide including Dhaka, with the demands of releasing her and ensuring proper treatment for her,” Rizvi said.
For Dhaka, the rally will be held in front of the central party office at 2:00am Monday, he added.
“But, no rally will be held in Gazipur and Khulna metropolitans due to the city corporation polls.”
“The police commissioner has been informed about the rally and permission has been sought regarding this. The city corporation authority has been informed too,” Rizvi said further.
Adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Abul Khair Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Assistant Office Secretaries Munir Hossain, Taiful Islam Tipu and Belal Hossain, among others, attended the press briefing.
