GAZIPUR: Police have detained 13 BNP men including its vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman from Tongi area of Gazipur on the same day the High Court stayed Gazipur city polls.
The were detained from the house of Hasanuddin Sarkar, BNP nominated candidate for Gazipur City Corporation polls, in Tongi around 4:30pm Sunday (May 6).
Tongi police station sub-inspector (SI) Jahangir Alam told Banglanews that a total of 13 BNP men were detained. However, he could not give detail information.
BNP nominated candidate for GCC polls Hasanuddin Sarkar’s personal assistant Kibria Jony told Banglanews that the BNP leaders held a press conference in the house half an hour before the detention by DB police.
Earlier in the day, the High Court stayed the GCC polls over boundary related issue.
