MYMENSINGH: A Jubo League leager and ward councilor was hacked to death by rivals in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday (May 9).

The ward councilor, identified as Sadequr Rahman, died around 8:00pm while undergoing treatment at Phulpur upazila health complex.

Phulpur police station officer-in-charge (OC) AKM Mahbub Alam told Banglanews that some people of ward no-1 councilor Sadequr’s community quarreled with a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Milon early in the day. 

Following the dispute, associates of Milon hacked Sadequr to death in the evening while he was returing home from his fish enclosure. Later locals took him to Phulpur upazila health complex where he succumbed to his injuries, the OC added.
