Election by mid December: LGRD Minister LGRD Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain

MANIKGANJ: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said Election Commission will announce the schedule for the national elections in October. Following the announcement, national election will be held by the mid of December.

The LGRD Minister said this at the inauguration function of the district council tower in Manikganj on Saturday (May 12).

He also said, it is a constitutional policy of the country, in which election takes place every five years.

Addressing BNP, LGRD minister said, “They (BNP) said, they won’t participate in polls until its Chairperson Khaleda Zia is released. How is she going to be released? One of them is penalized; release is by means of legal procedure. There is no other way for release. If you want to release her, go through legal procedure, go to High Court, Supreme Court. We’ve got nothing to do here.”

“We want their (BNP) leader to join polls. Why would we play against a weak team in the field?” he added.
