DHAKA: BNP is set to stage protest programs across the country including the capital city Monday (May 14), demanding unconditional release of their convicted party chief Khaleda Zia and ‘proper treatment’ of her.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the announcement at a press briefing at BNP central party office in Nayapaltan around Saturday (May 12).
At the press briefing, the party also has called on the government to deploy army in the upcoming polls to Khulna City Corporation (KCC).
“Though the polls is only mere 2-day away, but fair atmosphere hasn’t been created in the polling areas yet,” alleged Rizvi.
He further said that police is acting as rivals to the people and the role of the Election Commission (EC) is questionable too.
BNP Vice Chairman Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Organizing Secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, among others, attended the briefing.
