DHAKA: The High Court fixed Tuesday (June 18) as the date for passing its order on bail petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in two defamation cases filed against her.
The bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Ahmed Sohel fixed the date after completing hearing of the petitions on Monday (June 17).
The cases were filed against Khaleda in 2014 and 2017 for making derogatory comments hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims and for his remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The trial proceedings have been going on at Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Earlier on March 20, an arrest warrant has been issued against Khaleda Zia in the case.
On February 8, Khaleda Zia was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
