DHAKA: The High Court on Tuesday (June 18) granted six-month bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in two defamation cases filed against her in 2014 and 2016.

The bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order

Earlier on Monday (June 17), the country concluded hearing the petitions and set today for delivering its order.

The trial proceedings have been going on at Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

Earlier on March 20, an arrest warrant has been issued against Khaleda Zia in the case.

On February 8, Khaleda Zia was sent to jail after a special court sentenced her to five years' rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
