DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said Khaleda Zia’s bail in two cases again proves that the court is working independently.
Quader, also the minister for Road Transport and Bridges, was briefing reporters about Dhaka Elevated Expressway in the capital on Tuesday (June 18).
Obaidul Quader said: “Bangladesh's court is always independent. Sheikh Hasina's government never interferes in the judiciary. The court has taken its decision independently in the case of Khaleda Zia. Through the bail, it has been proved once again that the court is independent.”
“They (BNP leaders) only say for the opposition that court is not independent. The party blames the government when it fails to do anything for her (Khaleda),” Obaidul Quader added.
Asked if Khaleda would be free or not? Obaidul Quader said: “It is up to the court. Cases are many. The court will free her if bail is secured in all cases. The government can not keep anyone in jail after the court direction.”
