BNP pays homage to Zia on Eid day

DHAKA: Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Monday (August 12) paid homage to the memory of the late president Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of Eid ul Azha.

A large number of leaders and activists of BNP and its front and associate organizations, led by party’s standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, came to the tomb of Zia this noon to pay tribute to their leader.

After placing floral wreath, they offered fateha at the graveside of Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.

Talking to reporters on the premises of Zia’s tomb, Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said, “On behalf of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia and acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, I extend greetings to the people of Eid-ul-Azha. I am here today with a heavy heart. Our leader Khaleda Zia is not on our side. She has been unfairly imprisoned.”

Party’s standing committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Abbas, chairperson's adviser Zainul Abdin Farroque, joint secretary general Habib Un Nabi Khan, executive committee members Abu Nasser Mohammad Rahmatullah, Nabi Ullah Nabi and Kazi Abul Basar were among others present at the time.
