Khoka’s body arrives in Dhaka

DHAKA: The body of Sadeque Hossain Khoka, BNP vice-chairman and former mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation, arrived in Dhaka from USA on Thursday (Nov 7) morning. 

The flight of Emirates Airline EK-202 carrying the body of Khoka landed at Dhaka airport at 8:26am from New York via Dubai.

BNP Chairperson's Press Wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Earlier on Wednesday, family members of late Sadeque Hossain Khoka, freedom fighter and former mayor of undivided Dhaka City Corporation, left New York for Dhaka via Dubai along with his body.

From there, Khoka's body arrived at Dhaka in the morning in another flight.

After four Namaz e Janazas in Dhaka, he will be laid to rest at Jurain Graveyard next to his father’s grave in afternoon on the day. 

His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 11:30 am.

'From there it will be taken to premises of BNP's Nayapaltan central office in Nayapaltan. On behalf of the party, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders of various levels will pay their last respects to the body of late Khoka. Second janaza will be held in front of the party office. The body will be taken to capital’s Gopibagh area, the birth place of Khoka.”

Azad and Kiran said that two more janaza of Khoka will be held at Gopibagh and Dhupkhola grounds in the afternoon.

The body was brought home by BNP chairperson's advisor former deputy mayor of Dhaka City Corporation Abdus Salam, Khoka’s wife Ismat Hossain, her sons Israque Hossain, Isfaque Hossain, daughter Sarika Sadek and other members of the family, Shairul Kabir Khan said.

Bir Pratik Sadeque Hossain Khoka died at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York on Monday. He was admitted to the cancer centre on October 18.

Khoka had been suffering from kidney cancer since 2014 and went to the US in May of that year for treatment.

His body will be laid to rest in Dhaka’s Jurain graveyard.
