Sachin holds 19 Guinness World Records

DHAKA: Sachin Tendulkar, whose career spanned over 24 years, was honoured by Guinness World Records (GWR). 

He played 200 Tests and scored 15,921 runs along with 463 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), scoring 18,426 runs.

To commemorate 60 years of the GWR, Tendulkar was honoured along with other outstanding athletes across the sporting world with an exclusive 60th anniversary certificate and medal.

“I’m delighted to be included in the Guinness World Records 60th anniversary celebrations. I’m extremely proud of what I was able to achieve throughout my career in Cricket and to be recognised alongside so many other greats feels very special,” said Tendulkar, as reported by GWR website.

The 41-year old, who retired last year has an unparalleled record of 100 international centuries and holds 19 Guinness World Records titles:

Most player-of-the-match awards won (international career)

Most One-Day International runs scored in a partnership (career)

“Sachin Tendulkar is India’s most famous multiple record-holder. He’s also an inspiration to millions of people, not just in India but around the world, and we’re extremely honoured to recognise him in our anniversary year,” said Craig Glenday, the editor-in-chief of GWR.

Usain Bolt, Paula Radcliffe, Sir Steve Redgrave, Mo Farah, Linford Christie and Sabine Lisicki, were the other sports stars honoured by GWR.
