Aussie scoring big against English

DHAKA: The hosts Australia are on way to build a responsible score against England in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 opener on Saturday.

Till the filling of the report, the hosts have scored 257 runs for five after the end of over-43 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh are at the crease with 26 and 10 runs respectively.

Aaron Finch bagged the first century in the World Cup though went back to the pavilion scoring 135 runs.

The match started at 9:30am Bangladesh time after English captain EJG Morgan chose to field first after wining the toss.

The Australians, who went into the tournament opener without skipper Michael Clarke, are looking for a commanding victory to get the country behind them for the rest of the six-week tournament.

Australia are peaking at the right time for a crack at their fifth World Cup triumph and have only lost one of their past 12 One Day Internationals.

Ninety thousand people, possibly 100,000 even, are woo the MCG. They'll be belting out songs, possibly some rhymes as well.

They'll be dance as well and lots of banter, possibly involving some lost cricket equipment.

On the other hand, England, who starve for a maiden World Cup title, are going to start the tournament with fresh painful memories of three losses to the Australians in last tri-series.

The last of England's three losing World Cup finals was in Australia in 1992.

The early team news from England is that Ravi Bopara is likely to miss out and his spot will go to Gary Ballance.
