Australia beat England by 111-run

DHAKA: Australia started their journey in the ICC World Cup 2015 for the record fifth trophy with a convincing 111-run win over England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday.

England lost all wickets to score 231 runs while chasing a huge total of 343-run target set by the host.

James Taylor scored 98-run off 90-ball while Chris Woakes and Ian Bell scored 37 and 36-run respectively.

MR Marsh bagged five wickets on his World Cup debut match. MG Johnson and MA Starc took two wickets each.

Earlier in the day, the match started at 9:30am Bangladesh time after English captain EJG Morgan chose to field first after wining the toss.

Australia scored 342 runs for nine in 50-over while Aaron Finch scored the first century in the World Cup 2015. He, however, went back to the pavilion scoring 135 runs.

English bowler Steven Finn claimed five wickets including a hat-trick, first one of the World Cup 2015.
