Shakib joins 4000-run Club

DHAKA: With the 23rd run of his total 63 at the Wednesday’s World Cup match against Afghanistan at Canberra, world’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the first Bangladeshi batsman to earn 4,000 runs in One Day Internationals.

Shakib flicked through fine leg for 4 and entered the 4000 ODI-run club.

Shakib Al Hasan scored 63 runs of 51 balls with six boundaries and one over boundary.

A talented left-hand batsman and left-arm spinner, Shakib Al Hasan is unarguably the best cricketer that Bangladesh have ever had.

Before this match, Shakib, the number one all-rounder in all three format of cricket, played 141 matches. His average was 34.58 and strike rate was 79.41. He hit six centuries and 26 half centuries.

In the mean time, another Bangladesh’s batsman Tamim Iqbal missed his chance to join 4000 club in this match. He was 10 runs behind only.
